Meet Tara Barnes-Taylor, Esq.

Ms. Taylor, a prominent Maryland trial lawyer, is a partner at Rollins, Smalkin, Richards & Mackie, LLC where she heads the firm’s hiring initiatives. Her current practice includes insurance defense, personal injury, contractual disputes, insurance subrogation, professional negligence, traffic, and criminal defense.

 A Morgan State University alumna and graduated of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Ms. Taylor started her legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in Baltimore City. After seven years of fighting for justice for the citizens of Baltimore, Ms. Taylor transitioned into private practice were she quickly gained a reputation as a skillful, knowledgeable and talented trial attorney.

In addition to practicing law, Ms. Taylor teaches aspiring lawyers at the local university the areas of Business Law, Criminal Procedure, and Political Science.

When she isn’t zealously advocating for her clients in the court room or grooming young lawyers in the classroom, Ms. Taylor enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering with community outreach programs, mentoring young women, traveling and participating in running events.

In addition to her role as hiring partner for her firm, Ms. Taylor also serves as Co-chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Judicial Appointments Committee and a mentor to young women lawyers. In both her professional and personal capacities, Ms. Taylor has repeatedly demonstrated her commitment to diversity and uplifting women lawyers.
